If you are a customer of Indiana American Water, you’re probably going to be paying more next year. Under a new settlement, rates are potentially set to increase by eight percent by mid-2020 according to WISH TV.

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has a hearing on April 11 where they can accept, deny, or amend the settlement.

Indianapolis-area communities serviced by Indiana America Water include Franklin, Greenwood, Mooresville, New Whiteland, Noblesville, Shelbyville and Sheridan. Additional cities in central Indiana are also in the service area including Crawfordsville, Kokomo, Muncie, Richmond, Russiaville, Seymour, Somerset, Summitville, Terre Haute, Waveland, West Lafayette and Winchester.

The proposed hike is 7.9 percent to be introduced in two increments—a 1.73 percent increase this summer and a 6.07 percent increase in mid-2020. The good news is bills shouldn’t increase THAT much—about $2.41 per 4,000 gallons.
