Lynn Starkey’s contract as Roncalli Director of Guidance will not be renewed after this year. Long story short… she’s gay and works at a Catholic high school.
This ought to sound very familiar as it only just happened with another Roncalli counselor Shelly Fitzgerald last August. Fitzgerald was put on administrative leave when the school discovered her marriage to a woman. She has since made some Equal Employment Opportunity Complaints (EEOC) and gained exposure when she appeared on Ellen.
Starkey made her own EEOC in November. Although the spokesperson for the Archdiocese stated that the school was unaware of Starkey’s status,she disputes that the school knew her orientation before she filed the complaint. they took time before placing her on leave as it could have been seen as “retaliatory action” after she filed the EEOC.
